A Thousand Tears

How is it that even my tears don’t seem like enough to properly express this sadness? Isn’t there something even more elevated than tears? How is it that I can’t ask her to endure even one more night? Isn’t there something to tell me I’m wrong or I’m right? How is it that I knew months ago we didn’t have much time, so I sat down back then and wrote her a poem? Isn’t there something in those actions?

I don’t have the answers to my questions…. I only have my heart. And, just maybe that is something.

At Heaven’s Gate, Brie, please don’t wait
Go run and roll and sniff
For now your eyes, they see again
Your joints no longer stiff

We’ll meet again someday, my friend
Our routine we’ll repeat
That bark, that wag, that lick I’ll know
The circle then complete

Rest in peace, little girl of mine
Not sure there will be another
For you brought out the best in me
The only one who called me ‘mother.’

Brie Crowell Deasy  05/98 – 05/13

She was one week shy of 15 yrs. old. I will miss her more than words can say….. the littlest love of my life.

Awww Judy, I am so, so sorry about your precious little Brie. I have four little babies of my own, and cannot imagine not having them with us. All I can say is, to love and be loved by an animal is so very special. I hope one day you will give your heart to another.

    Pam

  2. Maureen A Bair says:

Judy I don’t know if you know of this wbsite but I hope it helps. http://WWW.Rainbowbridge.com
    Sorry for your loss.

  3. Kathi says:

My deepest sympathy for your lose. I lost my precious one three years ago and just got another one two weeks ago. Nothing takes their place, but time. MY heart goes out to you.

  4. Peggy says:

My heart breaks with the grief and sorrow you are dealing with right now. We have also had to say good-bye way too soon to four of our fur children – two from old age and two from terminal illness. With time, sometimes much time, you will be able to think and talk about your beautiful girl without tears – you’ll also be able to laugh when you tell stories about her — with time.

  5. Sandra Simmons says:

I am so sorry for your loss..I love animals but we, my son and I, cannot have them..We are allergic to them…I have seem my family members loose their little furry friends and it is like losing a member of the family…Be assured that she is running around in Heaven this very moment..

  6. Emmy says:

    I am so sorry.

  7. Veronica says:

Hi Judy, we lost our two toy poodles after 17 years and were lost without them. So when the tornado hit Alabama we found a lost poodle on line and adopted her and we just love her so much. She was transported up to NY along with 17 other lost dogs. If you do get another dog, and I think you will one day, try to get a rescue, they are wonderful dogs .Time does help somewhat, but the loss is always there. Thinking of you and your loss.

  8. Elle says:

All my love to you as you grieve for sweet Brie. I remember her as an adorable puppy…precocious, awkward, trouble, curious, eager. But most of all loving. And it was so easy to love her right back. You surrounded her with the most genuine loving care. My thoughts are with you. Missing her, remembering her, and celebrating her happy and meaningful life with you.

I know that nothing anyone says will help. I put my precious Buddy to sleep in 2002, he was 18-1/2 years old. I think of him ever day, he also was my only child, and I loved him dearly.

Judy, I am so sorry to hear about beautiful Brie.
I remember the day you got her. You were a good match from the start.
I know how you feel, I have lost several pets along the way.
15 years is a good run for a dog, you gave her a wonderful living life.
It took me awhile after I lost Freckles.

  20. admin says:

Thank you, Joyce. I remember Freckles… down in the Salon! Another sweetheart of a doggie. I’m glad you wrote. The sentiments today have been so heartfelt that I feel blessed to have so much support. I know this dreadful ache will eventually dull, but will never die. I’m so very very sad.

  23. Dear Judy……..I am so sorry for your loss…….I have a cat, her name is ” GYPSIE .” She is my
baby…….My children gave her to me on Mothers’ Day; in a : CAT SHOWER “, she was 13-weeks

Beautifully said, Uncle John and Daphne. Oh how I remember! And, thank you for those memories. Wow, I really DID have that little friend for a very long time.

  25. admin says:

Thank you for taking the time to write, Kathy! I appreciate your kindness.

  26. admin says:

I loved that you shared your story with me, Jeanne. A very good friend of mine gave ME a puppy shower, too, when Brie was just a little girl. She had a ball. We had party hats, cake, doggy treats, streamers, the whole nine yards. And, the pictures I have of that day are priceless. Thank goodness for all those beautiful memories.

  27. Shawn says:

Judy I think someday you’ll get another puppy. Maybe another Spaniel that looks just like Brie. All of us loved Brie as much as you did and we’ll miss her.

  28. Pamela Sue says:

Judy–I have watched you for years when you were on Qvc–and I also followed you and Paul at HSN–You are such a lovely person and so is your husband. My heart broke when I read about your loss of your little furry child. I lost my Bichon Friese at the same age—so very hard–but I never thought I would say this–get another one….there are soooo many dogs and cats that need your love and they have so much to give back. Rescue one–they truly know they have been rescued from the pit of death. They are so grateful—I now have three–all rescues one Bichon-one cockapoo, and one minature schnauzer. Two boys and a girl–walking all three at once this is a task–but worth it. Get another one to love–there are so many that need you and I know you need them too! Not ever to replace…cannot replace…they are all different…just get another one to love and spoil. You will not ever regret it! Hope this helps–push thru the sadness and give your love and vitality away!

  29. admin says:

Thank you, Pamela! I know we will someday. I appreciate your note very much.
